SQUARE ONE Release 16.07.2 now ready

New feature highlights since Release 16.07.01 include:

• Ingram orders can be sent via Flashback FTP, or X12 with the optional X12 License plate receiving module.

• Orders to WW Norton can now be sent via FTP.

• An EAN Ready field has been added to the Vendor File. A Yes indicates that orders and returns should use the 13-digit EAN instead of the 10-digit ISBN.

• Multiple gift cards can be used as tender in a single sale.

• An external USB credit card swipe can be used with POS.

• Security has been added for adding, changing, and deleting parameter records.

• Inventory maintenance and inquiry detail, along with printed PO’s and returns, will show the 13-digit EAN.

• Several new reports are available including PO’s with Specials which shows items on the PO that have special order requirements and a POS Transaction report.

• In Standard Reports there is now an option to combine ISBN lists, customer lists, and vendor lists.

Note the following concerning EAN-13:

SQUARE ONE is ready to use new 13-digit EAN’s!
Product numbers starting with 979 (the new format) will be added as 13-digit number. If they are being added by hand, users will need to key in all 13 digits.

Square One will not make any attempt to format these new 979 numbers, and will display all 13 digits everywhere the product number is displayed.

If the EAN starts with 978 (which is what most ISBNs are prefixed with currently) it will be added as a 10-digit number (even if the user keys in all 13, as seen on the EAN label on the book), formatted with dashes, just as always, and will continue to going forward.

Eventually, we expect that many vendors will require POs to come through to them with all 13 digits for product numbers, even for the old 978 prefix ISBNs. In this case, Square One has a new option on the Vendor Maintenance screen called EAN READY.

If the vendor is designated as EAN-Ready, purchase orders and return packing slips will be created with the 13-digit number on them. Also EDI documents will carry the 13-digit number and acknowledgements can be received and processed with the same number. The store must be at SQ1 Release 15.01 or higher.

Also, look-ups can be performed using the 10-digit ISBN or the 13-digit EAN. The system will find the book using either number. The number can be scanned or keyed into the search.
